Clinical depression is a more severe form of depression, which is also known as Major Depressive Disorder, so yes they are similar.

This is different from the type of depression you experience when grieving, dealing with seasonal changes, or other medical conditions.

MDD includes more serious feelings of sadness and other symptoms that make functioning or enjoying life more difficult. So in simple terms, it’s a chronic and lasting form of depression.

I was diagnosed with this disorder back in 2021. Most of the symptoms that I checked were more severe and they were ongoing for months at a time.

What makes this type of depression different from the other forms is when someone persistently feels low, has a bad mood, loses interest in pleasurable activities, has feelings of guilt constantly blames themselves for everything, or just feelings of worthlessness.

It’s like you lose touch with reality and you just become empty, You don't have any plans for the day, and you often feel confused.
